Wylie was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a P.E. teacher and wrestling coach for Yorkville schools in the 1970’s. He grew up farming on his family farm, handling all aspects of the work from planting to harvest and all the maintenance of machinery.
Wylie attended Oswego public grade schools and graduated from Oswego High School in 1961. He was a graduate of Western Illinois University in 1968.
He formerly worked at a concrete company managing building forms for large structures, and always did carpentry work. He was well known for making wooden toys, barns, and miniatures as well as tending a huge garden and selling at the Farmer’s Market. He loved to talk to you about his passions: wrestling, farming, gardening, and his children/grandchildren. Wylie’s smile lit up the room, and a quick sense of humor was always present.
