William "Bill" Smith

William “Bill” Smitty” C. Smith, 83 of Ottawa and formerly of Streator passed away Thursday morning (June 4, 2026) at the Pavilion of Ottawa.

A visitation will be held Friday (Jun. 12th) from 10AM until 1PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1PM at the funeral home with cremation rites following services. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

Bill was born on January 18, 1943, in Streator to Carl and Shirley (Larsen) Smith. He married Marnie Sampson on April 1, 1994. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Debra Martin of LaRose, Doug (Mandi) Smith of Peoria, Brady (Tracy) Smith of Tennessee, Michael Smith of Florida, Jeff (Christina Marie) Smith of Ottawa, Jessie (Ryan Stump) Sampson of Florida, Joel Smith of Peru and Jordan (Jill Sherman) Smith of Ottawa, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brother, Richard (Wendy) Smith of Ottawa, sister, Barbara (Ron) Mikolajczyk of Ransom and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 great grandson, brothers Frank and Donald “Potsie” Smith.

Bill graduated from Streator High School in 1961; he retired from Bill Walsh Automotive Group at the Honda Dealership. Bill enjoyed watching the races, N.H.R.A., dirt bike racing, motorcross racing and watching his grandkids playing baseball and softball.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family.
