Bud was born on February 27, 1920 in Lemont to George and Edith (Johnson) Lundberg.

Surviving are son Kerry (Judene) Lundberg of Odell, daughter Dawn Lundberg of Streator, grandchildren, Chad (Amy) Lundberg, Russ (Teri) Roudebush, Lori (Matt) McKinney, Lindsey (Greg) Zavada, great-grandchildren, Darien, Abbott, Mya, Haley, Addisyn, Gavin, Urijah, Cutler and Melania, sister Gloria Raley of Palatine, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a long time companion Elsa Peterson of Lemont.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother George W. Lundberg Jr.

Bud graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1938 and enlisted in the US Navy during WWII serving on the USS Boxer the largest aircraft carrier of it’s kind and he proudly served as radar man in the tower above the flight deck when it was commissioned.  His tour of duty took him around the southern tip of South America because it was too large to fit through the Panama Canal on the journey to the South Pacific islands including Japan.  Many years later after the carrier was decommissioned and scrapped, Bud proudly became a plank owner with a certificate confirming that he was the recipient of part of the original flight deck.  He retired as a draftsman.  He enjoyed doing oil painting, playing golf, photography and fishing.  Wilbert was a born again Christian.

Memorials may be made in his name to any Veterans Organization.
