Vera Juanita Antram

Vera Juanita Antram (nee Kitch) passed away December 14th, 2008 at her residence in Wheaton, Illinois, at the age of 96.
Mrs. Antram was born April 23, 1912 on a farm in Grant Township, Pawnee County, Kansas to William Anderson Kitch and Carrie Belle Durand Kitch. She was the 11th and youngest child in the family. Her parents were born in Illinois and journeyed to Kansas where they homesteaded land and built a sod house. The first 10 children in the family were born in the sod house before a wooden home was built.
Mrs. Antram graduated from Rozel High School in 1929. She married Wilford Russell Antram on January 6, 1932 in her parent's home in Rozel, Kansas. The couple returned to Mr. Antram's home state of Illinois to live. Wilford Antram died August 16, 1972. Mrs. Antram resided in the village of Grand Ridge, Illinois for over 70 years before moving to Liberty Village in Streator, IL and then to Wynscape in Wheaton, IL in 2004.
Mrs. Antram was active in the Grand Ridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, homemaking, sewing and reading.
Her survivors include three children: Linda Lee Antram Smith (Roger) of Bradenton, Florida; Karen Gayle Antram Shreve (Ronald) of Carol Stream, Illinois; and John Roger Antram (Anne Strauss) of Faribault, Minnesota. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Laurel Ann Smith Stvan (Jeffrey) of Ft. Worth, TX; Jeffrey Eugene Shreve (Jill) of Carol Stream, Illinois; Jennifer Lynn Smith Komoll (Michael) of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; and Christopher Lynn Shreve (Rachel) of Geneva, Illinois; and four great grandchildren: John Roger Komoll, William Raymond Komoll, Kyra Marie Shreve and Hannah Anne Shreve. In addition, she is survived by two sister-in-laws, June Kates and Marjorie King, and their families plus nieces and nephews from her 9 brothers.

Burial will take place in the family plot in the Grand Rapids Cemetery, Grand Ridge, Illinois. Memorials can be made to the Grand Ridge United Methodist Church.
