Thomas G. Kettman

August 9, 1926 — February 10, 2018

Thomas G. Kettman, 91 of Cornell passed away Saturday (February 10th) at Heritage Health and Rehabilitian Care Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 AM at the St. Michael the Archangel Church with Phillip Halfacre officiating.  Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and Streator VFW.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kurt, Brandon, David, Chris, Jacob, granddaughter, Madison and nephew Dan Perry.

Tom was born on August 9, 1926 in Streator to John and Mary (Coleman) Kettman.  He married Marianne Daugherity on November 11, 1949.  She survives.

Also surviving are daughters Kathy (Brian) Kmetz of Streator, Susan (Csaba) Kettman-Radnoty of Westhills, CA, son Brian (Kim) Kettman of Marseilles, 7 grandchildren, Kurt and Brandon Quickel, David and Chris Kmetz, Shay Sanford, Jacob and Madison Kettman, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Ronald (Marilyn) Kettman of Streator, sister Carol (Dick) Janko of Peru and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry, grandson Tyler Kettman, brother Arnold Kettman, sisters Shirley Rieck and Juanita Perry.

Tom graduated from St. Anthony’s Grade School in 1940 and attended Streator High School.  He enlisted in the US Navy serving during WWII.  Tom retired from the Illinois State Police – District 6 in 1983 and was a welder at Streator Dependable Mfg.  He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator American Legion Post 217 and Streator Knights of Columbus.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
