Stephen “Jim” Durgach, 76 of Streator passed away Thursday evening (July 10, 2025) at the RML Specialty Hospital, Hinsdale.
A visitation will be held Friday (Jul. 18th) from 4 – 6 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Jul. 19th) at 11AM at the funeral home with Pastor Sherri Cisneros officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator and Long Point American Legions and the Streator VFW.
Serving as pallbearers will be sons, Jim and David, grandsons, Dylan, Michael, Cole and Jaedon. Honorary will be son-in-law Jeff Wulzen.
Jim was born on August 1, 1948, in Streator to Steven and Elvita (Katcher) Durgach. He married Debra Stiles on April 7, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving is son James (Staci) Durgach, daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Wulzen son David Durgach all of Streator, 5 grandchildren, Michael Durgach, Cole Park, Jaedon and Dylan Wulzen and Morgan (Jim) Lurz, 8 great grandchildren, sister, Jeanene (Mike) Foltin of Streator and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jim attended St. Anthony’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1967. He served in the US Marines from 1968 to 1971. Jim was a truck driver for US Foods for 30 years and retired from driving for Walmart in 2014. He was a member of the First United Methodist Men, Streator American Legion, VFW and the AmVets. He was an avid fan of dirt track racing of late model racing.
Jim was always willing to do anything for anyone.
Memorials may be made in his name to any Veterans organization or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
