Shirley L. Robertson

December 2, 1921 — March 23, 2017

Shirley Louella Robertson, 95 of Streator passed away Thursday morning (March 23rd) at her granddaughter’s home in Bloomington.

A visitation will be held Monday from 10-12 Noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 Noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Shirley was born on December 2, 1921 in Kernan to Arthur and Lottie (Freese) Solberg.

She married Lester Robertson on March 12, 1943.  He passed away July 15, 2001. 

Surviving are daughters, Sandra (John) Defenbaugh of Manville and June (John) Negray of Streator, son, Guy (Mary) Robertson of Morris, 7 grandchildren, Eric (Ramel) Negray of Streator, Brett Negray of Streator, Todd (Jennifer) Olesen of Streator, Michelle (Joe) Triplett of Bloomington, Nathan (Eleya) Robertson of Clarksville, TN, Tammy Hamilton of Morris and Jim Walker of FL. and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Clarence Goss, husband and grandson, Shane Negray.

Shirley and her husband owned and operated the former Spudnut Bakery in Streator.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

Shirley, together with her late husband Lester, were two of the kindest, most devoted grandparents to ever bear that title.  They were loving and generous to a fault, and they were pillars of morality and virtue that the entire family looked up to.  They will be missed, but their legacy of love and decency will forever sway the branches of their ever-expanding family tree.
