Shirley Ann Akin

Shirley Ann Akin, 79 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (March 29th) at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Akin, Tyler Akin, Kyle Wynn, Nathan Duttlinger, Jason Duttlinger, Robert Kaluzny and William Spero.
Shirley was born on September 7, 1935 in Benton, IL to Loretta Howard and William Howard Sr. She married Cris J. Akin on October 31, 1952. He passed away on February 4, 2005.
Surviving are children Debbie (Steven) Sherman of Bloomington, Nancy (Kim) Wynn of Morris and Jeff (Lori) Akin of Streator, grandchildren Chad Akin, Jason Duttlinger, Angela Girard, Nathan Duttlinger, Jennifer Spero, Brittney Kaluzny, Kyle Wynn, Christopher Akin and Tyler Akin, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Mary (Clarence) Atwood of S. Dakota, Jean (Domingo) Araujo of Streator and brother William (Debbie) Howard of Joliet.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Christine Kay Akin.
She attended grade school and high school in Benton, IL.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Hope Helps Autism Awareness, Coal City
