Sherry Ann Mascal, 74 of Princeton and formerly of Streator passed away Saturday (July 16, 2022) at her home.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held Saturday (July 23rd) from 2 – 3 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with services following at 3PM.
Sherry was born on April 6, 1948, in Kewanee to Orville and Mary (Podkanowicz) Mascal.
Surviving is a daughter Justine Whittington of Ottawa, grandsons Christopher and Ryan Whittington, brother Vincent Mascal of Round Rock, TX and Special friend and care giver Val Bradshaw.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Born and raised in Streator, Sherry’s childhood days were filled with fun as she played with other kids in her neighborhood and organized summer talent shows on her front porch with her special friends Sandy, June and Michele. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, graduating in 1962. Many of her friends from her days at St. Mary’s remained her friends throughout her life. Sherry graduated from Streator Township High School in 1966 and obtained a nursing degree from Illinois Valley Community College in 1980. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years before retiring in 2010.
When her daughter was young, Sherry served as a board member and coach with Streator Youth Softball. In later years, Sherry loved to attend sporting events to watch her grandsons play. She was a devoted grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and remembered by all for the way that her smile brightened up the room.
Memorials may be directed St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
