Russell L. Carlson

August 28, 1938 — March 27, 2022

Russell L. Carlson, 83 of Kinsman passed away Sunday evening (March 27, 2022) at Lightways Hospice Home, Joliet.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held Saturday (April 16th) from 10 AM until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Services will be held at noon at the funeral home.

Russell was born on August 28, 1938, in Streator to Walter and Elsie (Johnson) Carlson.

Surviving are daughter, Lori (Dan) Nichols of Streator, son, Brian (Gina) Carlson of Morris, grandchildren; Alyssa (Joe Wagner) Nichols, Brady Nichols, Tyler (Kaylea) Mann and Zachary (Elizabeth Eggenberger) Mann, great-grandchildren; Axel, Atlas, Levyathan and Phenyx and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Norma Sisk, brothers, Leonard, and Rule Carlson.

Russell farmed for many years in the Kinsman area and retired from US Foods in 2000.  He graduated from the Mazon High School in 1956.  Russell enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, watching Nascar racing and the Indy Car racing.  He was an avid coin collector.

Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
