Ronald P. Ewing

Ronald P. Ewing, 83, of Streator passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 16, 2026.

Ron was born on October 4, 1942, in LaSalle, IL to Peter and Henrietta (Martyn) Ewing. He married Karen Soltis on May 24, 1972. She survives.

Also surviving are daughters Tara (Jacob) Miller of Long Point, IL., Eris (Robert) Simons of Streator, IL and son Ron (Sarah) Ewing, also of Streator; grandchildren Mitchell Miller, Jaden (Jake) Orr, Mason, Carter, Addyson and Sydney Ewing, Shae and Brezdyn Simons; great-grandson Tatum Orr; sister Janice (Mark) Zimmer of Naples, FL and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Beverly Jean (Ralph) Ksiazkiewicz, brother Bob (Sandy) Ewing and son Robert (Bobby) Ewing.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date, following cremation rites.

Ron attended LaSalle-Peru High School and drove a truck for Hill Freight Lines and later Orbit Transport. He retired from Schuett Transport in 2012. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed visiting with family and attending his grandkids’ activities. He lived a simple life, enjoying Westerns, Country music and Nascar racing. Ron was happiest simply taking things in, content to enjoy the moment, without ever wanting attention.

His heart was kind and considerate. His stories, laugh and presence will be missed dearly.
