Ruth I. Madara

Ruth I. Madara, 93 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (September 16, 2023) at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Private family services will be held with burial in the St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

Ruth was born on January 14, 1930, in Streator to John and Fannie (Dent) Strobel.  She married John Madara on September 30, 1950.  He preceded her in death on March 14, 1998.

Surviving are son Daniel Madara of Marseilles, daughter Julie (Robert) Fairburn of Gridley, grandchildren; Jason (Kristi) Madara of Muncie, IN, Stefanie (Jack Parrish) Madara of Streator, Sarah (Ryan) Figueroa of Elbert, CO and Amy (Kyle) Martin of El Paso, IL, great grandchildren, Cheyanne and Chelse Madara, Mikazlin and Jackson Parris, nephew David (Kate) Young, nieces Kathleen (Art) Swanson, great nephew Chase (Kristen) Folks, great niece Chelsea (Matt) Hinds, great-great nephew Fredrick Folks, sisters-in-law, Marge Chennillaro, Judy Madara and Pat Wahl all of Streator.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister, Carol Fitzpatrick and daughter in law Lydia Madara.

Ruth graduated from Streator High School in 1948.  She retired after 43 years at Owens Illinois Glass.  Ruth was a former board member of the Streator Owens Illinois Glass Credit Union, Quarter Century Club, St. Michael the Archangel Church.  She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and she loved to travel.
