Rita A. Green, 87 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (May 1st) at her home.

A visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Monsignor Philp Halfacre officiating.  Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric and Chad Clevenger, Eric and Jeremy Green, Matt Hays, James McQuaig, Tom Nees and Brian Walsh, Foad Green and Mark Woodall.  Honorary will be great-grandchildren, Nick, Markos, Doug and Marisol.

Rita was born on January 10, 1929 in Streator to John and Anna (Myer) Holohan.  She married Edward G. Green on November 19, 1949.  He preceded her in death on December 11, 2011.

Surviving are children Mary Ann (Tom) Bandura of Sugar Grove, Janet Clevenger of Bloomington, Edward James Green of Streator, Richard (Fataneh) Green of Snoqualmie, WA and Tom (Janice) Green of Streator, 15 grandchildren, 22 foster grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Jerome (Alta) Holohan of Cabery, sisters, Diane (Keith) Spaniol of Streator, Sr. Kathryn Holohan of Oldenburg, IN, Sr. Doris Holohan of Oldenburg, IN, brother-in-law Robert Green and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Adam Bandura, brothers, Francis “Ron” , William “Bill”, John “Jack”, Leo and Michael Holohan, sisters, Cecilia Holohan, Mary Harcharik, Marcella Orsen, Annette Demko, Helen Marconi and Patricia Holohan.

Rita attended St. Anthony’s Grade School and Streator High School.  She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Church and Light of Christ Prayer Group of the church.

Memorials may be made in her name to either Guardian Angel Outreach, St. Michael the Archangel Church or St. Vincent DePaul.
