Richard J. Simmons, Sr.

Richard “Dick” J. Simmons Sr., 62 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (Mar. 1st) at his home.
Following cremation, a memorial visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Memorial services will be held Friday at 7PM at the funeral home.
Dick was born on February 7, 1952 in Streator to Mildard and Meredith (Rivers) Simmons.  He married Barbara Dennis on March 17, 1972.  They later divorced.
Surviving are children Cynthia (David) Lopez of Streator, Amy (Jason) Dodge of Cornell, Emily Garcia of Manville and Richard “DJ” Simmons Jr. of Streator, 10 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, brothers Kenneth (Mary) Simmons of Streator, Michael (Kay) Simmons of Streator, Ronald (Donna) Simmons of Ottawa, Daniel Simmons of Ft. Worth, TX, sisters Beverly Simmons of Ottawa, Deborah (Dan) Gualandi, Vicki Zulz and Janie Bade all of Wenona, sisters-in-law, Marilyn Simmons of Streator and Phyllis Simmons of Ottawa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and David and Mildard in infancy and sister Linda Simmons.
Dick attended Grade School in Grand Ridge and Varna and Wenona High School and was formerly employed at Owen’s Illinois Glass and also retired from Wonders Motorcycle Club in Portage, IN and Screaming Eagles.
