Richard “Dick” A. Sipe, 70 of Streator passed away Monday morning (February 6th) at his home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM and Thursday from 10 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Butch Smith, Larry Jerde, Dan Austin, Terry Flahaven, Kenny Simons and Gary Huff. Honorary will be his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Dick was born on July 17, 1946 in Spring Valley to Harold and Nora Lee (Mekley) Sipe. He married Diane Austin on August 15, 1998. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Amanda (Steve Weekly) Strong of Sandwich, Amy (John) Maggard of Burnside, KY and son Brad (Karen) Austin of Streator; grandchildren Alena (Darryn) Litton, Isaiah Austin, Alex Strong, Lily Austin, Jillian Strong, Katie and Jimmy Weekly and great-grandson Andrew Litton, brother Lynn (Kathy) Sipe of McNabb and nephews Corey Sipe of McNabb and Todd Sipe of Granville.
He was preceded in death by parents.
Dick graduated from Magnolia-Swaney High School and Mid-State College and served in the US Army during Vietnam, stationed in Korea. He retired from US Foods in 2006. Dick is a member of the Teamsters Local 722, Lazy Acres, and Marshall – Putnam Farm Bureau. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, avid deer hunter, fisherman, and life long White Sox fan.
Memorials may be made in his name to either Light up Streator, Streator 4th of July Committee or a charity of the donors choice.
