Richard Joseph Cox

Richard Joseph Cox, 72 of Streator passed away Friday (July 31, 2026) at his home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday (Aug. 15th) 12noon at the Henry Cemetery, Henry, IL

Richard was born July 9, 1954, in Springfield to Dean Edward and Jean Marcella (Burtle) Cox.

Surviving is his son, Richard Joseph Malone of Decatur, siblings, Diana Holmes of Champaign, Carolyn (Kevin) Ramey of Springfield, Pam (Michael) Burge of Rochester, IL, aunts, Darlene Burtle of Auburn, Linda Walcher of Chatham, Karen Burtle of Springfield, uncle John Burtle of Florida and long-time companion Sandra Pouk of Streator.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dean Edward Cox, Jean Marcella (Burtle) Cox, John and Betty Burtle (his grandparents who raised him), daughter Tina in infancy and the mother of his son Nora Malone.

Richard graduated from the Auburn High School in 1972, he was formerly employed at the Henry Post Office.

Memorials may be the Children’s Shriner’s or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
