Raymond Arthur Nicklin Sr

Raymond Arthur Nicklin Sr. 81 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (April 18th) at his home.
Following cremation a visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 – 5 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 5 PM at the funeral home with military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.
Raymond was born on May 3, 1933 in Streator to Raymond W. and Anne (Galick) Nicklin.  He married Mary Sue Byrd on September 24, 1984 she survives.
Also surviving are son Raymond (June) Nicklin Jr of Chillicothe, daughter Patricia A. Cervantez of Streator, step-children Thomas Ray (Muff) Travelstead of Streator and Tina (Wally) Wallace of W. Frankfort, IL, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, sister Marge Balke of Grand Ridge and brothers Ralph (Dorothy) Nicklin of Streator and Dan (Mary) Nicklin of Aviston, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Miranda Carrillo and brother Fred Nicklin.
Raymond attended Streator Grade School and High School.  He joined the US Army in April of 1953 and was discharged in April of 1955.  He retired from Owen’s Illinois Glass and was a member of the National Rifle Association, Illinois State Rifle Association, Sandy Ford Sportsman Club.  Raymond enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening, canning and especially horseracing and spending time with family.  He was always willing to help anyone that needed it.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his granddaughter Miranda’s name.
