Phillip Albert Verchimak 71 of Streator passed away Thursday (April 23, 2026) at his home.
A visitation will be held Tuesday (Apr. 28th) from 4 – 6 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. with cremation rites following the visitation.
Phil was born on August 15, 1954, in Streator to Albert and Genevieve “Bertie” (Maubach Verchimak. He married Judy Snow on June 16, 1979. She survives.
Also surviving are son, Brandon (Tabitha) Verchimak of Streator, daughter, Rachel (Mark) Lansford of Streator, grandchildren, Logan and Elliott Lansford and Sydney Mae Verchimak, his mother Bertie Beckman of Streator, brother Alan (Stacy) Verchimak of Ancona, aunt, Norma Rogers of Warsaw, IN, mother-in-law Peg Snow of Pontiac and formerly of Streator, in laws, Dan (Mary Beth) Snow, Connie (John) Henkel and Kevin (Denise) Snow all of Streator, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, stepfathers, John “Bud” Hart and Dale Beckman, father-in-law Norris Snow and brothers in law Donald and Terry Snow.
Phil attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1972. He drove truck for Fekin Trucking, and previously Arnie Calkins Trucking and was a former Streator Police Officer. He was a member of the Sandy Ford Sportsman Club and the Teamsters Local 722.
Phil had been a truck enthusiast starting at a young age. The collection of books included antique semi-trucks, fire trucks, heavy equipment including wreckers. Several motorcycle trips with Judy and close friends. He never missed a war movie and watched them many times. But his favorite hobby of all was being a papa to Logan, Elliot and Sydney.
Memorials may be made to Logan’s Oasis Foundation or the Streatorland Food Pantry.
