Philip C. Cross, 81 of Pontiac, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 17th) afternoon at BroMenn Healthcare Center in Normal surrounded by his wife and children.

A visitation will be held Friday (Nov. 20) from 4-7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home, Streator. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Nov. 21) at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin and Terry Cook, Keri Bradbury, Justin and Adam Holt, and Kevin Cook, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Sarah Cook.

He was born January 29, 1928 in Reading Township to Philip J. and Catherine (Freeman) Cross.

He married Lillian Johnson on December 14, 1967. She survives. Surviving are daughters, Sherry (Mike) Elliott of Pontiac, Bonnie Libby of Streator, Sons, Kevin (Brenda) Cook of Pontiac, and Terry Cook of Bloomington, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, Step-father, John Taylor, brother, Richard Daniels and son-in-law, Jerry Libby.

He retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in Pontiac after 24 years. He was a member of the Pontiac Sportsman Club, Illinois Sheriff Association, and N. R.A. (National Rifle Association). He was an avid fisherman and hunter and in his younger years he loved working in the fields in Kansas.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
