Oral "Dean" Munson
August 17, 1937 — March 27, 2014
Oral “Dean†Munson, 76 of Streator passed away Thursday evening (March 27) at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5-7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Nigh Chapel Cemetery.
Dean was born August 17, 1937 in Streator, Illinois to Alfred and Mary (McNutt) Munson.
He married Ella Marie Atchison on August 17, 1964. She survives.
Also surviving are children, Debbie (Dennis) Miller of Cedar City, Utah, Larry Hunter of Lake Como, WI, Steven Hunter of Franklin, WI, and Cathy Richard of Franklin, WI, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 on the way, sister, Vera Call of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edward and Cletus Munson and 1 brother in infancy, and sister, Velma Laurine.
Dean attended Long Point Grade and High School and was a Independent Truck driver and Bridge builder for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and horses and was a huge John Wayne western fan and an avid Green Bay Packer’s fan. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
