Opal Blanche Cronk, 91 of Ottawa passed away Monday morning (Oct. 3rd) at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The Winterrowd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Opal was born on July 1, 1920 in Ottawa, IL to Stephen and Linnie (Reynolds) Koenig. She married Harry Eugene Cronk on March 31, 1951 he passed away on July 15, 1992.
Surviving are daughters Linda (Rick) Wicks of Streator and Dixie L. Griffin of Woodland Park, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Albert Watts and a brother Theron Earl Koenig.
Opal was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the WAC from Sept of 1944 until Jun of 1946 as a member of the regular Fifth Army. She was discharged having received the rank of sergeant. She was the first women Commander for Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 in 1968. She was a life member of the Ottawa American Legion and the Streator VFW. She graduated from Lincoln Grade School, Ottawa High School and Peacock Business College.
