Norma Jean Redfern, 87 of Streator passed away Tuesday (May 5, 2026) at the ARC of Streator.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 10 AM – 12noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with services following at 12noon. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin and Klint Appel, Chris and Brody Copp, nephews, Dennis and Tim Fechter.
Norma was born on June 28, 1938, in Hartley, Iowa to Fredrick and Martha (Bendlin) Fechter. She married Thomas Redfern on April 27, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2015.
Surviving are daughters, Gayle (Kevin) Appel of Fayetteville, TN and Vicky (Jeff) Hoffner of Streator, grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Copp, Kevin (Jodi) Appel II, Klint (Allison) Appel, Hiliary Russow and Brooklyn (Whitney) Grady, great-grandchildren, Brynn, Brody, Lia, Ava, Isla, Koen, Kolton, Karter, Clover and Dutton, sisters-in-law, Joyce Redfern and Anita Fechter and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, brothers, Art, Don and Ralph Fetcher.
Norma graduated from Streator High School in 1956 and from IVCC Nursing program in 1984. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital Nursing. Norma was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and with the Quilting Club, Beacons and sang in the church choir for many years.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
