Michael Paul Micklos, aged 75, passed away on May 23, 2023, in Streator, IL, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication. Born on February 11, 1948, in Streator to Mike and Leona Micklos, Mike’s life was marked by his deep devotion to his faith, family, and friends.
A master plumber by profession, Mike cheerfully served the people of Streator for 43 years. He worked tirelessly, executing his tasks with precision and care, always mindful of the needs of others. Mike's work was a testament to his dedication to his craft and his unwavering commitment to his community.
Mike attended Streator Township High School and became an apprentice plumber at Wilkinson Plumbing and Heating. Upon completion of 5 years of training and schooling he passed his state exams to become a Master Plumber. He was dedicated to his trade, resulting in a career spanning over 43 years. Throughout his life, Michael was a beacon of hard work and excellence in his profession.
A devoted family man, Mike deeply cherished his wife, Sharon (Brunton) Micklos, and children, Paul (Gloria) Micklos and Julie (Steve) Mounce. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather, a brother to, Carol Weidemann, Kay Tarr and Ted (Karla) Micklos. He took immense pride in his family. His legacy carries on with his loved ones.
Michael was a man of great faith and a longstanding member of the Central Church of Christ. He gladly went to the Dominican Republic in 2011 with the Mission Team to help install plumbing and do work where needed.
Leisurely pursuits for Mike included reading, playing Euchre, shooting guns, and volunteering at the local Food Pantry. He found the most joy in the company of his grandchildren, Michael, Edward and Lacey, whom he loved dearly.
Visitation services will be held on Monday, May 29th, from 4-6 PM, and Tuesday 10-11 AM. A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 30th, at 11 AM, at Winterrowd – Hagi Funeral Home in Streator.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ramp Builders, Streator Food Pantry or Central Church of Christ in Mike's memory. His kindness, dedication, and cheerfulness will be deeply missed, and he will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
