Mary Virginia Winterrowd

September 20, 1924 — March 23, 2016

     Mary Virginia Winterrowd, 91 of  Streator, died at 4:20 am Wednesday ( March 23rd) at Heritage Manor, Streator.

     Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday (March 29th) at the Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home, Streator.  Pastor Jerry Haley of First United Methodist Church will officiate and also conduct graveside rites at Henry Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday (March 28th) from 4-8pm at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7:00pm.  Music will be provided by Dale Sass, organist, with vocals by Dan Slone.

     Born September 20, 1924 in Henry, IL, she was the daughter of John and Magdalena (Dilzer) Maubach.  She married Dale Winterrowd on October 17, 1945 at United Methodist Church, Blackstone, IL.  He preceded her in death on November 1, 2001.

     Surviving are a daughter Carol (Ed) Johnson of Normal; Craig (Karen) Winterrowd of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren Virginia (Chad) Elshoff of Normal; Jacob (Jennifer) Johnson of Bloomington; Nathan Winterrowd of Flower Mound, TX; four great-grandchildren Hannah, Sarah, Cora, and Caleb.  Brothers Glen Maubach of Blackstone, Robert Maubach of Henry, also sisters Jeanette Carbone, Lamberta “Bertie” Beckman, and Jean Donze all of Streator and Norma Rogers of IN, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers Erwin, Ralph, Harold, Stanley, Melvin, Raymon  and Marlin, 2 adopted brothers Raymond and Howard and 2 sisters Pearl Reynolds and Arlene Bailey.

     A Streator resident most of her life.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary.  A graduate of Streator High School in 1943.  Owner of Gini's Tot Shop, was employed at Ester Kirk's and a Teacher's Aid at Streator Unlimited.

     Serving as pallbearers will be: David Maubach, Bob Maubach, Gene Maubach, John Maubach, Bill Maubach, and Phil Verchimak and honorary pallbearer Gary Donze, all nephews.

     Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Streator VFW, or the Streator Food Pantry.
