Mary Lou Harsted

Mary Lou Harsted, 87 of Grand Ridge passed away Monday evening (April 8, 2024) at the ARC in Streator.

Private family services will be held.  The Grand Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lou was born on May 23, 1936, in Ottawa to Clarence and Veronica (Kerrigan) Kuhn.  She married Donald Harsted Sr on August 9, 1958.  He survives.

Also surviving are sons, Donald Jr of Grand Ridge, Michael (LeeAnn) of Streator, Robert (Sandy) of Deer Park, James (Kelly) of Grand Ridge and Paul (Trista) of Ottawa, grandchildren; Andrew (Rani) Harsted, Tanyr Harsted, Alex Harsted, Michelle (Joe Miller) Harsted, Josh (Carley) Harsted, Robbie (Rachel) Harsted, Kenny Harsted, Chris (Megan Hoster) Harsted, Nick Harsted, Haley (Josiah) Haines, Cassidy (Charlie) Stacy and Ethan Harsted, 15 great grandchildren, brother, Clarence “Bud” (Norma) Kuhn of Grand Ridge, sister, Edna (Roger) Talty of Ransom, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ann Bedecker and Bonnie Hill, and granddaughter in law Jenni Keith Harsted.

Mary Lou graduated from Marquette High School and Nursing school in Bloomington.  She was a member of the St. Mary of the Fields Church, Grand Ridge.  She retired after 27 years working for Dr. James Scott Medical office.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
