Mary Louise Council, 85 of Streator passed away Friday morning (May 15th) at her home with all four of her children at her side.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 – 6 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6PM at the funeral home. Private family burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Mary was born on January 18, 1930 in Fairfield, IL to Howard and Lillian (Hulse) Morlan. She married
Byron “Barney†Council on June 5, 1949. He passed away on April 4, 2006.
Mary was the loving mother of surviving children Joan (Hugh) Brems of Geneva, Jane (Mike) McGraw of Barlett, Jack (Boni) Council of Streator and Jeri Lynn (John) Roach of Streator, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Sylvia McDannel of Fairfield and Sandra (Richard) Clark of Fairfield and sister-in-law Sharon Kiss of Ohio.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Herman Kiss, husband, son Byron Jr. in infancy and a brother Larry Kiss.
Mary graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1948 and attended IVCC in the CNA classes. She retired from Streator Truck Lines as co-owner / office manager.
Mary was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years.
Memorials may be made to BRACE Alzheimer’s research.
