Marion J. Johnson

Marion J. Johnson, 83 of Ancona passed away Wednesday (June 4, 2025) at the Richard L. Owens Hospice House, Peoria.

A visitation will be held Thursday (Jun. 12th) from 4 – 7 P.M. and Friday (June 13th) from 10 – 11 A.M. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Jacob and Jeremy Durdan, Zachary Dye, Christopher, Matthew and Aubrey Voigts. Honorary will be, Dan Poldek, Mark Remeta, Kenny Redfern, Robert Oberholtzer, Sonny Weichmann, Kenny Renner, Pete Pastrick, Butch Leskanich and Ron Jenkins.

Marion was born on August 17, 1941, in Long Point to Clarence and Maxine (Garretson) Johnson. He married Joyce (Walters) Elliott in 1973. She preceded him in death in 2012.

Surviving are his children, Julie (Jon) Durdan of Ancona, Donna (David) Essington of Dwight, Brad (Bonnie) Johnson of Streator and Andrea (Chris) Dye of Florida, step children, Pat (Tom) Decker of Long Point, Debbie Liptak of Streator, Sandy (Gene) McMullen of Streator and Curtis Elliott of Forest, grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Aubrey Voigts, Sarah Stenson, Jacob and Jeremy Durdan, Andrea, Stephanie, Emily and Elizabeth Johnson, Zachary, Callie and Zoey Dye, 5 great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy McDermaid and Judy Berry both of Streator, his former wife Karen (Parcher) Johnson of Long Point and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, daughter Brenda Voigts and a sister Donna.

Marion graduated from Woodland School in 1960 and retired after 59 years from Owens Illinois Glass. He was a member of the Streator Elks Lodge #591. Marion was a passionate/die hard dirt track race fan.
