Lloyd Scott “Scotty” Hardin, 65 a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away Friday (July 17, 2026) at his home due to a long battle with cancer.
Born on September 14, 1960, in Ottawa to Sidney and Lucy Ellen (Hicks) Hardin. He was raised in Marseilles and obtained his High School GED from Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby.
Scotty began working at the age of 16 as a river towboat barge cleaner and deckhand. He later achieved his Masters License as a River Towboat Captain in 1979 and held that employment for 47 years. Scotty was a dedicated and gifted river towboat captain who was extremely proud of his chosen profession.
Surviving are his three children, Scott Hardin, Larry Hardin and Briana (Patrick) Hardin-Burash all of Streator, one granddaughter Amelia Rose Burash, former spouse Corina Hardin of Streator, sister Linda Hardin of Elizabethtown, KY, several nieces and nephews.
Scotty is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry, 2 sisters Lisa Beth Hardin and Louann Hardin Mason Galvan.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held Saturday (July 25th) from 10AM until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Saturday (August 8th) at 1PM at the Illini State Park in Marseilles.
