Karen Ann (McAllister) Kohn

Karen Ann Kohn, 80 of Elgin and formerly of Streator and Ottawa passed away Saturday (March 5, 2022) at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin.

A visitation will be held Saturday (March 19th) from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Mettille, Bryan Leddy, Brie Ann Von Ruden, Stacy Joslin, Brian and Vincent Venturi

Karen was born on August 28, 1941, in Ottawa to Charles and Darlene (Werdung) McAllister.

Surviving is a daughter Kathi (Michael) Mettille of Elgin, granddaughters, Kelsie (Ben) Banker and Jenna (Bryan) Leddy, great grandsons, Brendan Banker and Cole Leddy, brother, Mike (Liz) McAllister of Little Rock, AR, sisters, Laurie Thorsen of Elgin, Claire (James) Orr of Ottawa, Maura (Kevin) McAllister Sparks of Ottawa and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a son Edward Michael Kohn.

Karen attended Jefferson and St. Columba grade schools and Ottawa and Marquette High Schools.  She retired from US Food Service in 2010 after 34 years.

Karen enjoyed flower gardening and she had a great love for animals, especially cats.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Pet Project.
