John T. Somerlott

John T. Somerlott, 93 of Streator passed away Thursday (January 15, 2026) at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A visitation will be held Thursday (Jan. 22nd) from 12noon until 2 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2PM at the funeral home with military honors following services.

John was born on November 4, 1932, in Centralia, Texas to Ralph L. and Clara E. (Prothro) Somerlott.

He married Terry Smith on December 3, 1993. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Brian (Casey) Farrell of Bettendorf, IA, Brittany Farrell of Streator and Joshua (Marie) Farrell of Streator, 12 grandchildren, nephews, Steve (Raylene) Somerlott of Oklahoma, Richard (Kellie) Somerlott of Florida, nieces, Carol (Paul) Welsh of Ohio, Jan (Dominic) Caminitti of Ohio, Brenda (Danny) Smith of Ohio and Linda Carr of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Esther Sprague and brothers Jim and Bill.

John served in the US Army and the US Airforce. He was former owner of the Dayton Tap in Dayton and was a boil maker. John attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
