John H. Henne

John H. Henne, 100 formerly of Streator passed away Monday February 26th surrounded by his loving family in St. Petersburg Florida.

Born on October 8, 1917 in Streator to John and Augusta (Kashak) Henne he married Ruth Ann Traeger on June 28, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 7, 1966.

John graduated from Streator Township High School, was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Idaho, was a Veteran of WWII and retired from Owens-Illinois Glass.

John loved his family first and foremost, was an avid White Sox, Cubs and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He loved to fish with a cane pole and travel to Disney.

Surviving are children Joyce (Doug) Woods of Guthrie, OK, Jean (Gary) Rients of New Braunfels, TX, Janice (Jonathon) Burch of Carlsbad, CA, John C (Dorota) Henne of Sarasota Fl, Carla (Doug Rhodes) Rients of Streator IL, Mary Beth (John) Aydoner of Bloomington, IL and Steve Henne of Lady Lake, Fl. 29 Grandchildren, 44 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Earl and Walter, sisters Vera Henne, Eleanor Hilliard, and Gen Neu, Daughter in Law Renee Henne and Great Grandson Galen Rients.

Visitation will be Saturday March 3 from 10:30am – 12:30pm at the Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday March 3 at 1:00PM at the St. Michael the Archangel Church, Burial to follow mass in the St. Mary’s Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
