Jerome R. Waldron

January 7, 1941 — October 12, 2019

Jerome “Jerry” R. Waldron, 78 of Grand Ridge passed away Saturday (October 12, 2019) at Heritage Health, Streator.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 AM until 12 noon at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Grand Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his family members and Gary Schobert.

Jerry was born on January 7, 1941 in LaSalle to Raymond and Margaret (Shortell) Waldron.  He married Judy Black of Grand Ridge on August 7, 1965.  She survives.

He is also survived by a daughter Melissa (Scott) Stevens of Hanna City, son Brian (Aimee) Waldron of Sherman, four grandchildren Sarah and Laura Stevens and J.D. and Nicholas Waldron.  Also surviving is one sister Ellen (Jack) Hardersen, sister-in-law Mary Black and nieces and nephews Kellie (Jared) Kernan, Belinda (Steve) Parish, Mike Hardersen, Scott (Kim) Shilkuski, Tom (Ginelle) Shilkuski and Brett (Amy) Black.  There are five great-nieces and four great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Elaine Shilkuski, brother-in-law Ray Shilkuski, brother-in-law Phil Black and a nephew Brad Black.

Jerry graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School and L-P-O Junior College.  He served in the United States Army, and was a member of St. Mary’s of the Fields Church and the Knights of Columbus in Streator.  Jerry retired from United Parcel Service after thirty two years, then later retired from farming.

Jerry loved spending time with his family, was an avid Chicago Bears fan, and loved traveling with Judy throughout the United States.  He enjoyed watching the Three Stooges, Andy Griffith, Keeping up Appearances and old westerns.  He loved volunteering at the Grand Ridge fireman stag and going for coffee with his friends.  He was a kind, loyal, loving, gentle man with a huge generous heart.  He will be greatly missed.
