Jeanette Walter

Jeanette Ann Walter, 86 of Ottawa and formerly of Grand Ridge passed away Saturday morning (September 5, 2026) at the Serenity Nursing Home, Morris.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held Thursday (Sept. 10th) from 10 AM until 12noon at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12noon at the funeral home with burial following in the Grand Ridge Cemetery.

Jeanette was born on June 29, 1940, in Sublette to Wilfred and Mildred (Bulfer) Salz. She married Glen M. Walter on January 27, 1962. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2019.

Surviving is her son Brian Walter of Ames, IA, daughters, Brenda Walter of Washington, IL, Briget (Paul) Rivett of Seneca, grandchildren, Zachary Rivett and Haley (Anthony) Sessoms, great grandchild, Bloom and a baby boy due in November, brothers, Norbert (Janet) Salz of Leeds, MA, and John (Irene) Salz of Springfield and Mike Salz of Wenona, sister, Calista Brumett of Wenona and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, a sister Mary Elizabeth in infancy, brother Will Salz and sister, Ann Nichols.

Jeanette attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Wenona, graduated from Streator High School and Beauty School in Bloomington. She was a member of the St. Columba Church in Ottawa and the Ottawa Community Concert Association. She was formerly employed with First Federal Fun Timers and Ottawa Savings Bank and after retirement she had the “Journey with Jeanette”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grand Ridge Fire Department or the Ottawa Concert Association.
