James A. Hillyer

James A. Hillyer, 85 of Streator passed away Friday (September 23, 2022) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held Saturday (Oct. 1^st) from 10am until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at noon.

Jim was born on August 25, 1937, in Corning, Arkansas to Alvin and Cora (Cox) Hillyer.  He married Gloria King on July 2, 1960.  She preceded him in death on November 6, 1990.

Surviving are daughters, Denise Grammer and Desiree Williams both of Streator, grandchildren; Dustin and Jeremiah Hillyer, Samantha (Luke) Farrare, Joshua (Katie Cooper) and Shea Thomas, Luke and Logan (Jennifer) Grammer, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and 5 sisters also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria, daughters Deborah Hillyer and Dawn Sampson and a brother in infancy.

Jim served in the US Army and retired from Caterpillar Mfg. in Aurora.  He was a member of the Streator Eagles and the N.R.A.
