James G. Boik, 86 of Streator passed away Wednesday (July 23, 2025) at the ARC of Streator.

A memorial mass will be held Friday (Aug. 1st) at 10AM at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. Burial will be in Grenville, S. Dakota.

Jim was born on May 22, 1939, in Grenville, S. Dakota to Louis and Theresa (Ewalt) Boik.

He married Wendy Wright on May 28, 1965. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1987. He later married Joanie Corrigan Verdiramo on January 16, 1991. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2016.

Surviving is stepdaughter Angie (Dan) Carlson of Downers Grove, grandchildren, Jacob Hall, Jenna Hall, Tyler Heflin, step grandchildren, Mark, Ben, Nathan and Stephen Carlson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, both wives Wendy and Joanie, daughters Tammy Heflin and Dawn Hall.

Jim served in the US Air Force from May of 1956 to May of 1964 stationed in Alaska. He was a member of the former St. Anthony’s Church and currently St. Michael the Archangel Church. Jim was custodian for St. Anthony’s Grade School and Church and retired from Ace Hardware in 2018. He enjoyed watching Chicago sports, Cubs, Bears and the Bulls and working in his yard and doing home improvement projects.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
