Howard L. Morstatter

Howard Leroy Morstatter, 86 of Streator passed away Saturday (September 19, 2026) at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 12noon until 2PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.

Howard was born on November 24, 1939, in Decatur to William and Frances (Powell) Morstatter. He married Esther Grimes on August 24, 1959. She survives.

Also surviving are sons, Gerald (Gale) Morstatter and Doug Morstatter both of Streator, granddaughters, Abigale (Michael) Holcomb and Hannah (Chad) Antrim, great grandchildren, Grace, Zachary, Maxwell and Tyler.

He is preceded by his parents, daughter Deanna, brothers, Donald and William, sisters, Patricia and Barbara in infancy.

Howard graduated from Streator High School in 1957 and attended Olivet Nazarene University. He retired from Owens Illinois Glass and Streator Lawn and Garden. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Streator R.C. Flyers club where he served as an officer. He enjoyed playing the guitar, attending Bluegrass Festivals and camping.

Memorials may be made to either the First Church of the Nazarene or the family of Howard Morstatter.
