Helen O. (Walkey) Murtaugh

Helen O. (Walkey) Murtaugh, 99 of Streator passed away Thursday (October 30, 2025) at the ARC of Streator.

Private family services were held with burial in the Riverview Cemetery.

Helen was born on June 26, 1926 in Leon, Iowa to Albert and Hazel (Martin) Walkey.  She married John "Jack" Murtaugh on November 7, 1979.  He preceded her in death on August 26, 1991.

Surviving are daughters Carla Schopp and Christine Fuller, grandchildren, Jennifer LaPoint, Sarah Williams, Ryan Schopp, Derek Sanders and Johnathon Fuller, great grandchildren, Brianne and Thomas LaPoint, Briley Williams, Noah, Cain, Atlas, Alivia and Hazel Sanders

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brother Joseph Walkey.

Helen attended Streator Schools and Streator High School and Illinois Wesleyan University.  She was the former owner of the Fireside Restaurant, Co-owner of the Town and Country Inn.
