Gloria North, 77 of Cornell entered into eternal life with our Lord on Monday (July 24th) at her home.
A visitation will be held Thursday from 4 – 8 PM with the rosary recited at 7:45 at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:30 AM at the St. Michael the Archangel Church with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating and grandsons Seminarian Zachary Leskanich and Leo Leskanich serving as altar servers. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Troy, Steven, Ryan, Thomas and Blake North, Joseph, Zachary, Jesse, Samuel Leskanich. Honorary will be grandsons Leo and Logan Leskanich.
Gloria was born on September 22, 1939 in Streator to Leonard and Loretta (Bailey) Melrose. She married her love Kenneth North on January 20, 1962. He survives.
Also surviving are sons Gene (Wendy) North of Streator and Bruce North of Ancona, daughter Georgia (Mark) Leskanich of Streator, 14 grandchildren, Troy, Steven (Claudia) Ryan (Kate), Thomas and Blake (Kim) North, Joseph, Zachary, Jesse, Samuel, Hannah, Sophia, Abigail, Leo and Logan Leskanich, 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Eloisa North, siblings Jonny (Dan) Sliker of Saunemin, Don (Lauren) Melrose of Streator, Sandy (Glen) Baker of Streator, Carol (David) Antolik of Pontiac, Spencer Melrose of Streator, Virginia Phillips of Cullom, Mona Eutsey of Streator, Terry Melrose of Streator and Dale (Sue) Melrose of Streator, brothers-in-law, Kevin Vidergar, Carl and Daniel North both of Streator and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Christine Vidergar and sister-in-law Donna Schell.
Gloria attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1958 and attended Cosmetology school in Streator and became an instructor and was a beautician for 47 yrs lastly at Cinderella Beauty Salon where she enjoyed serving her many clients. She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Church. Gloria enjoyed making ceramic dolls, sewing along with making her own wedding gown and all of her granddaughters baptismal gowns, boating and fishing with her husband and loved being with horses and her beloved dogs, Rusty, Dusty, Misty, Angel and Charlie.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her name.
