George William “Bill” Boehne, 83 of Cedar Point passed away Sunday (July 6, 2025) at home.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 11AM until 1 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator and Long Point American Legions and Streator VFW.
Bill was born on January 13, 1942, in Keyesport, IL to George and Reba (Elliott) Boehne. He married Patricia (McKenzie). She preceded him in death on December 28, 2020, after 47 loving years together.
Surviving are children, William (Wendy) Boehne of Cocoa Beach, FL, Christine (Greg) Graf of Rock Island, Richard (Peaches) Boehne of Standard, IL, Tricia (Scott) Travi of Naples, FL, Kathleen (the late Lennie Grutzius) Javorsky of Chicago and Shari Javorsky of Tallahassee, FL, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, siblings, Mary (late Sonny) Turpen of Spring Valley, Sally (Tom) Piano of Spring Valley, Cindy Sondgeroth of Ladd and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Parker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Pat, sisters, Georgie (Jim) Sterling, Geri (Bob) Sommer and a brother Eugene in infancy.
Bill graduated from Sheffield High School and served in the US Airforce as a Radar Defense Operator in NORAD. He retired from IDNR as a Site Security Officer, Police Officer for the City of Streator for 20 years, additionally he was a truck driver, EMT, most favorite, being a pilot and flight instructor in his early years.
He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church in Magnolia, Sandyford Sportsman Club and Oglesby American Legion Post 237; Bill’s favorite past times were always spent with his beloved dog Parker, going for rides in the country, or around town on his lawn mower. He had a huge heart and was a giver to many. He was always watching out for his wonderful neighbors, often cutting their grass, or doing what he could to help. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop building the next project and spending time with his family, pulling as many pranks on them as he could. He enjoyed putting together the messages for the church sign at Crossroads. He strived to put God first in his life and share that gospel with many. He was musically talented in his younger years playing the guitar, banjo, and Omnichord. He will be missed by many.
