Gene "Snuffy" Smith

Gene “Snuffy” Smith, 75 of Dana passed away Monday morning (June 3, 2019) at his home.

A visitation will be held Friday from 10 – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Dana Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert McKinney, Clayton, Colin and Carter Tibbs, Joseph and Joshua Angelos.

Gene was born on July 10, 1943 in Streator to Fred and Marye (Burkett) Smith.  He married Patricia Carroll on October 19, 1963.  She survives.

Also surviving are children Debra (Thomas) Tibbs of Herscher, Tina Smith, Robert Smith, Amy McKinney and Amanda (Fidencio Serna Ruiz) Smith all of Dana, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don and a sister Virginia Vargas.

Gene attended Woodland School. He was formerly employed at Transco and retired from Rocky Top Wood Treatment in the maintenance department.  Gene enjoyed fishing, working on any projects he could find.
