Gaila Jo (Cross) Tyne, 85 of Streator passed away peacefully March 19, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Gaila Jo was born on May 1, 1940, in Dahlgren, Illinois to Marion and June (Hart) Cross. She Married Gerald (Red) Tyne on August 25, 1962.
She is survived by her children, Rob Tyne, Gina (Andy) Urbanec, Ginger (Jeff) Walter, and Geremy (Shellee) Tyne, all of Streator. Grandchildren Jaci Musec, Nora Urbanec, Alexander Urbanec, Drew Urbanec, Austin Urbanec, Kassidy Walter, Kaitlyn Walter, Baley Bundy and Sean Bundy. Great grandchildren Aiiden Wilkinson and Amyla Urbance. Sister Dorothy Horton, of Kangley, brothers John (Cathy) Cross, Steve (Shelia) Cross and sister-in-law Mary Ann Cross, all of Dahlgren, IL and many many many precious nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in-laws Earl and Mary Tyne, Jack and Marlene Tyne, Lloyd Tyne, and Lorraine (Jim) Riley, Brothers James Cross, Gerald Cross, Wayne Cross, Gabriel Cross and Sister Marilyn Karcher.
Gaila attended Middle Creek Grade School, Dahlgren and Ottawa High School graduating with the Class of 1957.
She retired from Owens Illinois after 45 years of service. While working at Owen’s she played on many of the factories women's sports team volleyball, softball, and bowling. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and a present member of Erven Avenue Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and Mission teacher for VBS for many years.
Gaila had a love for her Jesus and wanted everybody to know who Jesus is!! and the love for her family and friends where you could always hear her say “I love you first!!”
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10AM at the Erven Avenue Baptist Church with burial following in the Phillips Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to either the Baptist Children’s Home of Carmi, Illinois or Hope Center of Livingston County.
