Edward "Red" W. Hansen

January 10, 1933 — November 18, 2018

Edward “Red” W. Hansen, 85 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (November 18th) at Heritage Health, Minonk.

Visitation will be held Wednesday form 10 – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight with military honors conducted by members of the Dwight VFW.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Park, Scott Hansen, Chase Robinson, Mark Garrison, Josh Luckey and Jeff Bressner.

Red was born on January 10, 1933 in Odell to Harry and Hazel (Ely) Hansen.

Surviving are children Jayne (Thomas) Park of Streator, Julie (Anthony) Robinson of S. Beloit, IL, Christine (Todd) Galbate of Ft. Collins, CO, Beth (Archie) Crouch of Streator and Eric Hansen of Meza, AZ, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Helen Wright of Mesa, AZ, Marilyn (Elmer) Garrison of Streator, Betty (John) Kochis of Streator and JoAnn (Jim) Armstrong of Streator and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Edward, daughter Jamie and twin sons in infancy and a brother Ralph Hansen.

Edward attended Dwight Grade School and served in the US Air force as a corporal.  He was formerly employed at Thatcher Glass and a pipefitter at the LaSalle Nuclear Station and formerly owned and operated the Kangley Inn in the 1970’s.  Red was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and he enjoyed gardening.

Memorials may be made in his name to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Streator Unlimited.
