Edmund S. “Snake” “Ribeye” Geiger, 76 of Streator passed away Thursday (August 15, 2019) at Pleasant View Luther Home, Ottawa.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 PM until 4 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4 pm at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life and dinner will follow at Omar’s Tap. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: John “Zeke” Parzgnat, Larry Johnson, Harry Seward, James Aussem and grandchildren: Shayna, Caleb, Kira, Kali, Gannon, Alex, Chloe, Caitlyn, Tanner, Noah, Derren, Marcus, Cara, Rachael, and Cannon
Edmund was born on November 29, 1942 in Ottawa to Stephen and Helen (Wielgopolan) Geiger. He married Nancy Missel on May 8, 1993. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2014.
He is survived by children Edmund (Aimee) Geiger of Stuart, FL, Trisha (Larry) Gould of Ottawa, Derren (Marisol) Geiger of Delmar, CA, and Dawn (Austin) Stewart of Ottawa, 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson (Alexander Jr.)due in October, sisters Florence Stricklin of Naplate, Mary Lou Collins of Ottawa, Ginny Jackson of Gardenia, CA, a brother Charles (Marlene) Geiger of Ottawa, mother-in-law Virginia Missel of Streator, special friend Patrice Rodriguez of Ottawa and his beloved dog Sammy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son Robert in infancy.
Edmund attended Ottawa High School, served in the Illinois National Guard and retired as a meat cutter after 50 years. He was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) Local 1546. Edmund enjoyed classic cars and all sports, but was especially a diehard Cubs and Bears fan and NASCAR (Dale Earnhardt) fan. In his retirement, Edmund loved going to his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made to his family for an organization to be established.
