Donald E. Zelenak

Donald E. Zelenak, 69 of Streator passed away Thursday morning (Aug. 7th) at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
A visitation will be held Monday from 9 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Gillman, Alex Zelenak, Rodney and Scott Minkler, David Lahman and Victor Muro Jr.
Donald was born on January 8, 1945 in Streator to George and Doris (Pedelty) Zelenak. He married Candis Ford on June 14, 1973 and she survives.
Also surviving are children JoAnn (Victor) Muro of Mendota, Donald (Gia) Zelenak Jr. of Joliet, grandchildren Victor Jr., Michael, Nicholas and Donna Muro, great-grandchildren Macie, Nicholas and Kairi, brother Robert M. (Sharon) Zelenak of Streator.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents.
He retired from Pipefitters Local 597 and was a member of the Sandy Ford Sportsman Club and Marshall County Sportsman Club. He enjoyed playing steel guitar and also played in the C.C. Cash Band.
Donald attended Kangley Grade School and Streator High School.
Memorials may be made in Donald’s name to the American Cancer Society.
