   Donald A. McDermaid, 84 of Streator passed away Wednesday afternoon (October 26, 2011) at Heritage Health Care.
   Cremation rites will be accorded.
   A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday at 11AM in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Donny, Matt, and Terry Cox, Michael Mauk, Ronnie and Darrell Carnduff, Nathan Mauk, Michael Chalky, Michael McDermaid, Eddie Janke, Chris and Curtis Martin, and Trevor Smith.
   He was born on June 20, 1927 in Drayton, ND to Donald and Laura (Hoselton) McDermaid
   Donald married Mary Lou (Larson) on February 18, 1950. She passed away October 6, 2010.
   Surviving are daughters, Heneritta Carndnuff, Donalda Mauk, Barbara Martin all of Streator and Thressia Janke of Dana, 23 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, brother, Dwayne (Dorothy) McDermaid, of SC, sister-in-laws, Shirley McDermaid of SD, and Genevieve Hoel of ND, and brother-in-law, Ken Koppen.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Ole McDermaid, grandchildren in infancy, Christopher and Stephanie Martin, and Darrell Carnduff, brothers, Dale, John, Keith McDermaid, sisters, June Capouch and Donna Koppen, brother-in-law, Andy Hoel, and his dog, his lifetime companion "Little Bit" on July 27, 2010.
   He served in the navy during WWII.
   Donald retired as a truck Driver from R.M.E Trucking Company and served in the navy during WWII.
   He was a member of the Streator Eagles, Streator American Legion, Streator VFW, and Teamster Local #722.
