Donald L Maass

Donald L. Maass, 75 of Streator passed away Monday (April 4th) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Summitt View Cemetery, Ottawa.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Gebhardt, Cameron Meyers, Phil Klein Sr and Phil Klein Jr, Dick Garvey and William Girard.

Don was born on August 23, 1940 in Ottawa to Lester H. and Martha A. (Lindsay) Maass.  He married Rosalie Bruce on January 5, 1963.  She preceded him in death on January 25, 2011.

Surviving are daughter, Cheryl (Joel) Meyers of Streator, grandchildren, Jay Gebhardt Jr., Sarah Clay, Cameron and Madyson Meyers, great-grandchildren, Jaleigh, Masie, Colin, Christy Rose Clay and Luke Gebhardt, sister, Jane (Dick) Garvey of Sycamore, nephew Phil (Stacey) Klein Jr., niece Misty (Ted) Mescall.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, William “PeeWee” and a brother and sister in infancy.

He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1958, was baptized and confirmed Episcopalian, was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and enjoyed going to the Pines and Chippers Restaurants.  Don retired from RH Boelk Trucking in Mendota and he enjoyed telling jokes and putting a smile on someone’s face.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.
