Donald Edward Cohrs

Donald Edward Cohrs, 78 of Morris passed away Friday (September 11, 2026) at the ARC of Streator.

Per his request, cremation  rites will be accorded with a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Donald was born on June 16, 1948, in Harvey, IL to Arthur H. and Anne H. (Salyers) Cohrs.  he married Jo Chance on November 19, 1988 at the Trinity  Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.  She survives.

Surviving children, Jason Cohrs of Rosenberg, TX, Christopher (Bethany) Cohrs of Davenport, IA, Jenn (Frank Mielke) Cohrs of Sydney, Australia, Elizabeth (ANdrew) Phelps of Morris and step son Troy (Cindy) Eckhardt of McDonough, GA, grandchildren, David Cohrs, Te'a Cohrs, Joey Cohrs, Jeremy Cohrs, Dylan Cohrs, Tommy Cohrs, Timothy Cohrs, Justin Cohrs, Zoey Phelps and Scarlett Phelps, Alexandrea Eckhardt and several great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents,, siblings Arthur H, Cohrs Jr, Laura Brand and Richard Cohrs.

Don was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War where he reached the rank of Sergeant.  he was raised on a family farm in Chicago Heights.  he graduated from Homewood Flossmor High School in Flossmore and graduated from BA from thew University of Evansville, IN.  Don worked for Shell Oil Company in California, Wisconsin and Iowa.  he retired from Packaging Technologies in Davenport, IA and held 2 patents with them.

Don had an inventive mind and was always thinking of things to design and build like a motor made from magnets.  He like working on home projects, restoring his 1966 Mustang, wood working.  he was always "putzing".  he enjoyed wood working, make things out of metal and stain glass.
