David L Leonard

July 18, 1952 — December 31, 2020

David “Davey” L. Leonard, 68 of Manville, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with social distancing being followed and masks being worn.  Private family services will be held following visitation.  Burial will be at a later date.

Davey was born on July 18, 1952, in Streator to Walter and Dorothy (Gray) Leonard.

Surviving are son, Nathan (Ashley) Leonard of Allegan, MI; fiancée, Darla Schmitt of Streator; sister, Betty Lou (Dave) Inman of Knoxville, TN; nephew, Rodney (Sue) Leonard of Streator, and extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Leonard.

Davey graduated from Woodland High School in 1970.  He then began his career at Zurlinden Brothers Construction as a carpenter.  Before retiring, he spent 37 years working for Leonard Construction where he specialized in finish carpentry.  Davey was a member of the Carpenters Local Union, Streator Men’s Bowling Association, and various golf leagues.  He enjoyed spending his free time fishing and boating on the Vermillion River.  Davey was the sexton for the Phillips Cemetery Association for many years.

Memorials may be made to the Streator Ramp Builders, Streator Food Pantry or the Phillips Cemetery Association.
