Darrel "Dutch" K. Cool, 83 of Cornell passed away Sunday evening (Oct. 16th) at Evenglow Health Center in Pontiac.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Cornell Community Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the church. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Keith Rexroad, Rick and Derek Franklin, Mitch Cool, Jason Jesse and Corey Eggenberger. Winterrowd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Darrel was born on April 13, 1928 in Cornell to Floyd and Ethel (Wibbenhost) Cool.
He married Ethel Louise Handley on November 15, 1951. She passed away on July 19, 1972. He then married Marilyn Day on October 10, 1987. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Linda (Richard) Franklin of Cornell, and Diane Singer of Pontiac, son, Darrel "Dutch" Cool of Cornell, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sisters, Lois (Loren) Good of Pontiac, and Roma Licht of Cincinnati, OH, brother Donald (Pat) Cool of WA and several nieces and nephews.
Dutch is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, and brother Floyd Cool Jr.
He is served in the US Air Force from 1946 until 1949. Dutch retired from Interlake Steel in Pontiac in July of 1995, member of the Cornell American Legion, Cornell Fire Dept serving as past fire chief and Cornell Baptist Church. He attended Cornell Grade and high school.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donors' choice.
