Dale Laverne Melvin

Dale L. Melvin, 83 of Cornell passed away Monday (April 22, 2024) at his home.

Following cremation a private family celebration of life will be held.

Dale was born on September 8, 1940, in Streator to Roy G and Ida (Cheely) Melvin.  He married Jacklene Osborn in 1960.  She passed away in 2000.  He then married Sandra Kaye Bohm in 2002, she passed away in January of 2021.

Surviving are children, Allen Melvin of Madison< IN, Robert Melvin of Cornell, Lora Zytniowski of Cornell and Patrick Melvin of Lyndon, IL, step daughter Ruby Lee of Pontiac, 11 grandchildren, step grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and a sister Diana (Bill) Osborn of Streator and several nieces and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his 1^st wife and 2^nd wife, brother Roy J. Melvin and sister Anna Robertson and a brother and sister in infancy.

Dale attended Woodland School, he served in the US Army and retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 1999.  Dale was a member of the Streator American Legion and was of the methodist faith.   

Dale was a great man and kind to everyone and a very good father and friend. 

He will be missed.
